La taramosalata (en griego ταραμοσαλάτα) o tarama (en turco) es un plato típico de las cocinas griega y turca que forma parte de los mezes (platos parecidos a las tapas españolas).

Características

Se elabora tradicionalmente con tarama, que son huevas en salazón y curadas de carpa, aunque existen variedades de otras especies, especialmente de bacalao. Las huevas se mezclan con zumo de limón, cebolla, ajo, aceitunas y a veces picatostes.

En Francia es muy popular pero nunca se cocina, comprándose preparada industrialmente, por lo que suele llevar nata, puré de patata e incluso gelatina para que resulte más consistente. El color depende del tipo de huevas empleadas y puede ir desde el rosado hasta el parduzco, pero las taramosalatas producidas en masa suelen ser de color rosa por la adición de colorantes.

Suele comerse untada en una rebanada de pan o verduras como tomate, pepino y aceitunas.
