The International: dinero en la sombra, es un thriller de acción protagonizado por Clive Owen y Naomi Watts y dirigido por Tom Tykwer. El rodaje comenzó en Berlín en Septiembre de 2007 y se estrenó inaugurando el Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín de 2009, el 5 de Febrero.

Aunque es un película de ficción, The International: dinero en la sombra se inspiró en los hechos reales de la caída del Banco Internacional de Crédito y Comercio.[1] Fundado en Karachi, Pakistán en los años 70 por Agha Hasan Abedi, el banco internacional rápidamente se implicó en la mayor operación de dinero de la historia. Además de servicios financieros, el banco se pasó rápidamente al negocio de tráfico de armas, ejército de mercenarios, inteligencia y apoyo al terrorismo. Los legisladores en el Reino Unido y USA finalmente descubrieron estos tratos en 1991 cuando el banco fue a la bancarrota.

Argumento

El Agente de la Interpol Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) y la Ayudante del Fiscal del Distrito de Manhattan Eleanor Whitman (Naomi Watts) están decididos a llevar ante la justicia a uno de los bancos más poderosos del mundo.

Sacando a la luz miles de asuntos y actividades ilegales condenables, Salinger y Whitman siguen el dinero por Berlín, Milán, Nueva York y Estambul. La persecución por todo el mundo les pone en grave peligro, al tiempo que su incesante tenacidad pone en riesgo incluso sus propias vidas. Pero sus enemigos no se detendrán ante nada, incluso llegando a matar, para continuar financiando el terror y la guerra. Dirigida por Tom Tykwer (Corre, Lola, Corre) del guion original escrito por Eric Warren Singer, The International: dinero en la sombra se rodó en Alemania y en diversos emplazamientos más a lo largo de Europa.
