Villanella

En música una villanella (plural villanelle - no debe confundirse con la forma poética francesa villanelle) es una forma musical ligera de la música vocal italiana del Renacimiento que se originó en ese país a finales de la primera mitad del siglo XVI. Primero apareció en Nápoles, posteriormente recibió influencia de la canzonetta y, aunque posteriormente, influyó a su vez en el madrigal. Hacia mediados del siglo XVI se convirtió en una de las formas más populares de las canciones italianas.

La temática a menudo es rústica, cómica o incluso satírica; a menudo se encuentran parodias de los manierismo s que son habituales en géneros vocales más elevados y sofisticados del momento, como el madrigal. El esquema de las rimas de los versos en las muestras más tempranas de este repertorio normalmente son "abR abR abR ccR".

En los primeros tiempos, las villanelle eran siempre para tres voces sin acompañamiento, normalmente dos femeninas y una masculina. Los primeros compositores eran napolitanos: Giovanni Domenico da Nola y Giovanni Tomaso di Maio; otros compositores posteriores, ya no napolitanos, incluyen a Adrian Willaert, Luca Marenzio, Adriano Banchieri, Orlando di Lasso y otros, que también dejaron producción en otras formas y géneros más elevados ..
