En la mitología mesopotámica, el Shedu, similar al lammasu, es un espíritu protector. Posee cuerpo de toro, alas de águila y cabeza de ser humano.

Estaba representado, por parejas, en la entrada de las ciudades, de los templos y de los palacios para repeler a los espítitus maléficos y a los enemigos.
