Nació en Rockingham, Carolina del Norte, Estados Unidos tras la muerte[[Archivo:]] de su madre a los 35 años fue a vivir con su abuelo a Bankhead, Atlanta.Sus inspiraciones son los músicos de su época.Se casó en el 2004 tiene una hija llamada Navy Thalia Nash.Acerca de su nombre de cantante se lo puso en honor a su tio que cuando Terius tenía 10 su tio le dijo que lo necesitaba para que su sueño se cumpliera("the dream now" and "to have goals for higher things" en inglés).Recientemente The Dream trabaja en radio killa records con su compañera y nueva artista firmada Christina Millan (Ex novia del productor Dre) en su cuarto álbum, También trabaja en su nuevo álbum Love King.


Love Hate Album

Es su álbum debut se estrenó en el 2007,entre sus canciones se encuentran "Falsetto","I luv you girl" y "Shawty is a ten" de la cual hay un remix oficial.

Love Vs Money(2009) Es el 2º álbum de The Dream en este participaran Mariah Carey, Lil Jon y otros cantantes.Su fecha de lanzamiento será el 11 de marzo del 2009 en Estados Unidos.Sera bajo el sello de Def Jams y Radio Killa.

Confrontamiento con Chris Brown

The Dream compuso la letra de la canción "Bed" de J.Holliday, Chris Brown reclama que la letra no fue escrita por The Dream sino por el.Este confrontamiento termino cuando el escritor y cantante The Dream apollado por Holliday dijeron: "La letra es mia pero Holliday puso la idea de la canción sin embargo Chris Brown tuvo parte de la idea pero no es del totalmente". Otros proyectos: The Dream planea sacar su propia marca de ropa llamada Millionaire Love Affair[3] Finalmente dijo:

"La pista fue considerada de Chris Brown - que era su pensamiento - pero era mi disco y decidimos dejarlo a J. Holiday.
