Conus es un género de moluscos gasterópodos de la familia Conidae, conocidos vulgarmente como conos. Habitan en aguas de los océano Índico y Pacífico.

Posee una neurotoxina más potente que el cianuro. Se le dice caparazón de cigarrillo porque una picadura de este molusco es capaz de causar la muerte en el tiempo en el que uno fuma un cigarrillo. Un famoso nadador australiano murió a causa de su picadura. Su veneno es así de fuerte porque necesitan matar al pez lo más rápido posible.[cita requerida]
