Gopnik

Gopnik (en plural: gopniks o gopnikis) es una clase de persona, no mayor de 30 años, aparecido en la Rusia post-soviética y otros países con antiguos regímenes comunistas.

Muy similares a los canis, kies o kinkis en España, chads en Reino Unido o neds en Escocia. Se caracterizan por ser muy agresivos, atacar a personas indefensas o débiles, robar, causar daños en el mobiliario urbano y emborracharse con cerveza, vodka, o licor de jaguar. Suelen reunirse en gran número de personas en forma de clan.

Origen del término

  • El término "gopnik" proviene del ruso (Ruso: Го́пник). Su significado proviene de ladrón callejero en ruso.
  • Otra versión sugiere que "gopnik" proviene de las siglas GOP, Gorodskoye Obshchestvo Prizreniya (Ciudad del Cuidado Social), nombre que se les daba a los hospicios creados tras la Revolución de Octubre del antiguo régimen soviético para albergar a la gente pobre y huérfanos.
  • Otra versión traduce la sigla como Gorodskoye Obshchezhitiye Proletariata (Ayuntamiento Residencial del Proletario) supuestamente organizado en los años 1920 en San Petersburgo en el hotel Oktyabrskaya, que rápidamente se hizo conocido por las acciones criminales de sus habitantes. No obstante no existe ninguna referencia sobre esta institución en los archivos históricos de San Petersburgo.
