High Definition Survey

High Definition Survey, HDS. Se denomina Documentación Geométrica de Alta Definición, y se define como el método de medición que permite una captura de información rápida, detallada y precisa de una superficie o volumen por medio de una herramienta basada en la tecnología de escáner con láser, un instrumento de registro que también es denominado como Laser Escáner Terrestre. El láser escáner realiza un barrido captando miles de puntos por segundo con un haz de láser, obteniendo una nube de puntos 3D compuesta por multiples mediciones individuales en un sistema de coordenadas (x,y,z), componiendo un modelo tridimensional de las superficies o volumenes registrados. Esta visualización es de gran realismo ya que los puntos pueden reflejar el color del objeto registrado. Esto es posible gracias a un elemento adicional, una cámara fotográfica con gran resolución que permite relacionar cada punto medido con el láser con el color real del pixel en la fotografía de referencia. Hoy en día se ha convertido en una herramienta habitual con multitud de aplicaciones en los más diversos campos, sobre todo en reconstrucciones y modelado de datos 3D, análisis de deformaciones, arquitectura, arqueología, etc.
