Nació el 23 de junio de 1855 de Dieppe y falleció el 2 de noviembre de 1936 en Londres; habiendo recibido lecciones musicales con varios profesores privados, hasta que finalmente se hizo merecedora de la beca Mendelssohnn de la Real Academia de Música londinense. Vivió en América, en Viena, en Londres, en Florencia, componiendo siempre sus inspiradas partituras. Suyas son canciones sobre textos ingleses, textos alemanes y textos franceses, un gran ballet, piezas corales, piezas para piano, etc.
