onna-bugeisha (女武芸者? mujer samurái), es un reducido grupo de esposas, hijas, hermanas de samuráis que desarrollaron actividades bélicas en el Japón feudal.[1] Miembros de la clase bushi (samurái) fueron entrenadas en el uso de armas para proteger su casa, familia y honor en tiempos de guerra. A pesar de su escaso número representan una importante e icónica presencia en el antiguo Japón. La Emperatriz Jingu, Tomoe Gozen, Nakano Takeko[2] y Hojo Masako[3] son los exponentes más característicos de este grupo.
