The Big One, también llamado 'El Grande' es un supuesto terremoto que, segun los científicos, se espera que tenga una energía superior a los 8 grados Richter

Cómo será

Según los científicos, se espera que este terremoto tenga una escala superior a los 8 grados Richter y que tenga una duración de 2 a 3 minutos. Suponen que las consecuencias serán catastróficas; desatará un tsunami que irá y vendrá durante 12 horas, esta masa será 3 veces mayor a la que afectó a Chile en 2010. Se indica que cada que ocurre un terremoto, el mar se sale, y es lo que se espera para 'The Big One'


Dónde

Se estima que el terremoto ocurra a lo largo de la falla de San Andrés, por lo que el epicentro se situaría cerca de Palm Spring y que desde ahí las ondas sísmicas se propagarán hacia el norte de California, afectando también al sur del estado. Así, se sentirá en San Diego, Oceanside, Los Ángeles y las regiones cercanas, afectando más a Los Ángeles donde las ondas quedarían atrapadas por las condiciones del suelo.


Opiniones

Por ahora algunos cientifios opinan que la probabilidad de que esto suceda es muy pequeña, mientras que otros opinan todo lo contrario
