City

City, la palabra inglesa para ciudad (y que suele designar propiamente al centro de la ciudad, distrito financiero o CBD), se utiliza muy extensamente en textos en español para referirse a:

  • Por antonomasia, la City de Londres, sobre todo para referirse específicamente a ella como centro financiero internacional (Bolsa de Londres, seguros -Lloyd's, Lloyd's of London, Lloyd's Register-).
  • Cualquiera de las ciudades que suelen incorporar city a su nombre, para evitar la confusión con una entidad territorial superior (por ejemplo, un estado):
  • por ansdrtonomasia, New York City;
  • incluso siendo una ciudad hispanohablante, es común la expresión México City para referirse a Ciudad de México.
  • Ciudades de ficción en creaciones literarias o cinematográficas:
