Clara Ward, cantante de gospel estadounidense que consiguió un gran éxito artístico y comercial, en los años '40 y '50 como voz principal de The Famous Ward Singers. Provocó una revolución dentro de las formaciones gospel, dando la oportunidad a cantantes como Marion Williams, y consiguiendo el primer hit gospel que lograra vender más de un millón de copias "Surely, God Is Able".

Sólo Mahalia Jackson está por encima de ella dentro del panorama gospel de su tiempo. Su influencia musical, con su voz de alto y cierto tono nasal, ha influido en decenas de artistas soul y gospel, entre ellos, su protegida Aretha Franklin
