Gary Player (Johannesburgo, Sudáfrica, 1 de noviembre de 1935) es un jugador de golf considerado como uno de los mejores de la historia.[cita requerida] Formó parte del trío de los tres grandes con Arnold Palmer y Jack Nicklaus. Ha registrado más de 15 millones de millas en viajes, probablemente más que cualquier otro atleta.[1] Apodado el Caballero Negro[2] (Black Knight en inglés), Player es un arquitecto de campos de golf de renombre con más de 300 proyectos de diseño en todo el mundo. En 2008 celebró su 25 aniversario con eventos de golf de caridad en Londres, Palm Beach, Shanghai y Ciudad del Cabo, con un total de fondos recaudados de más de 30 millones dólares EE.UU.[3]

Trayectoria

Cuenta con 24 títulos en el PGA Tour, el último en el Houston Open de 1978, y 19 en el Champions Tour, el último en el Northville Long Island Classic de 1998. Además, cuenta con 9 majors y 9 senior majors. Es también conocido por una extensa obra de caridad. Ha diseñado más de 250 campos de golf en todo el mundo.
