Akean es un río de Panay en las Bisayas.
El nombre del río viene del término akian, y se deriva de la palabra akae, que significa 'hervir' o 'espumejear'. Debido a la velocidad de la corriente del río Aklan, éste parece hervido o espumejeado. Akean, por lo tanto, significa 'donde está que hierve o que espumejea'.
