James Weldon Johnson.

James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) fue un autor, político, diplomático, crítico, periodista, poeta, antologista, educador, abogado, escritor de canciones, activista de los derechos humanos y prominente figura en el Renacimiento de Harlem. Johnson es más recordado por su trabajo como escritor, que incluye novelas, poemas y colecciones de folclore. Fue, asimismo, uno de los primeros profesores afroamericanos en la Universidad de Nueva York. Más tarde fue profesor de literatura creativa en la Universidad Fisk.
