Land of the Free es el cuarto álbum de la banda alemana de Power metal Gamma Ray, lanzado en 1995. Con los cambios de miembros en cada álbum, su quinto disco, Land of the Free, fue el primero sin Ralf Scheepers. El guitarrista Kai Hansen, el fundador de la banda, quedó en la voz. Aunque esta no era la primera vez que cantaba, pues había cantado en Helloween hasta 1987 y en "Heal Me" del disco anterior, esta sería la primera vez, en 8 años, que sería el cantante exclusivo de la banda. Además, el bajista Jan Rubach y el guirrista Dirk Schlächter intercambiaron funciones, Rubach inicialmente consintió pero después se resistió a hacer el cambio y posteriormente saldría de la banda junto con el baterista Thomas Nack al final de la gira "Men On A Tour". Entonces, Schlächter tomaría el bajo y Henjo Richter tomaría la segunda guitarra. Rubach y Nack formarían una banda juntos llamada Anesthesia.

El Tema "Afterlife" fue escrita como un tributo a Ingo Schwichtenberg, compañero de Hansen en Helloween, que se suicido antes de la salida del disco. Parte del solo del tema 4 "All of the Damned", está tomado la canción de Eagles, Hotel California.

Land of the Free fue al número 1 en 1995 (No. 3 en total) por los eschuchas de Sputnikmusic.com

Land of the Free es de lejos el disco más vendido de Gamma Ray a nivel mundial.

Land of the Free II salió el 16 de noviembre de 2007.
