Michael Aston (conocido como Mick Aston), nació en 1 de julio de 1946 (65 años), es profesor de la Universidad de Bristol,[1] después de haber pasado por la de Oxford. Estudió la carrera de geografía en la Universidad de Birmingham (Reino Unido).

Su primera actividad más importante de mayor repercusión son las primeras prospecciones arqueólogas de Taunton.

Su popularidad vino de la mano de la televisión, al participar en unos programas de arqueología, Time Signs, para la televisión británica en 1991 (Canal 4). Aston es conocido por el público por los colores de sus pulloveres y su corte de cabello de "profesor chiflado".

Aston es vegetariano y naturista.[2]
