Nanyang

Nanyang en chino 南阳. Es un ciudad de Henan en China; cuenta con una población de casi 10.500.000 de habitantes (censo del 2003) que viven en un área de 26600 km². Es la ciudad con la mayor área de la provincia de Henan, las fronteras son: Sanmenxia al norte, la provincia de Hubei, al sur, Shaanxi al oeste y Zhumadian al este.

Huevos fósilizados de dinosaurios han sido descubiertos en la cuenca de Nanyang.

Nombre

Nanyang en chino 南阳 pinyin: Nányáng 南 Nan-Sur, Yang 阳-sol (el lado sur del sol, es por un río chino que se llama así, Yang-sol). Wǎn (宛) es la abreviatura de Nanyang. Nanyang era conocida como Wancheng (que significa "Ciudad de Wan") en la antigüedad.
