Film de 1999. Dirigido por Sam Raimi (entre otras dirigió Spider Man 1, 2 y 3 ) Kevin Costner interpreta a un jugador de béisbol que está terminando su carrera deportiva a la edad de cuarenta años, y tiene una última oportunidad para demostrar quién es, lo que es capaz de hacer no tan sólo en el campo de juego sino en lo personal, como ganar el corazón de la mujer que ha amado durante los últimos cuatro años. Billy (Costner) es lanzador y siempre ha sido mejor en el béisbol que en el amor. Después de una mala temporada, justo antes de comenzar en lo que podría ser su último juego, Billy se separa de Jane (Kelly Preston). Ahora con su carrera, el amor y la vida en el límite de un equilibrio que puede ganarlo todo o perderlo, Billy lucha contra su físico y los recuerdos de la mujer que ama, llegando a límites donde se esfuerza por lograr un juego perfecto, y así cerrar una excelente carrera deportiva.
