Seiyu Group (西友グループ?) es un operador japonés de Supermercado, centros comerciales, y grandes almacenes. Además de sus operaciones en Japón, Seiyu también tiene tiendas por departamentos que operan bajo su nombre en Singapore y Hong Kong. El grupo utiliza para operar directamente sus tiendas en Singapur y Hong Kong, pero en octubre de 2005 Singapur, sus tres tiendas se vendieron a CapitaLand Limited,[1] que transfirió a Pekín Hualian Group más tarde el mismo año.[2] El grupo de Hong Kong tienda en New Town Plaza, Sha Tin se vendió a Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited in en junio de 2005,[3] pero al igual que las tiendas en Singapur que continúa operando bajo el nombre Seiyu.

De acuerdo con BusinessWeek Online,[4] Wal-Mart, el gigante minorista de América, compró un 37 por ciento participación en Seiyu en 2002, y de acuerdo a un comunicado de prensa la empresa[5] a finales de 2005 Wal-Mart adquirió una participación mayoritaria en la empresa que desde entonces ha aumentado a 95% en el capital[6] con la posibilidad de que la propiedad del 100% en un futuro próximo.
