El shakshuka (en árabe شكشوكة‎; en hebreo: שקשוקה) es un plato de la comida de Oriente Medio[1] preparado con tomates guisados, especias y huevos. Es preparado en fuego bajo, comenzando con los vegetales y las especias; después de que están cocidos, se agregan los huevos. Esta comida es muy parecida al plato turco Menemen y al plato latinoamericano conocido como "Huevos Rancheros".

En la cocina israelí, el plato es preparado con huevos, tomates, cebolla o ajo. La shakshuka es usualmente comida con pita, como muchos de los platos de la comida del Medio Oriente o con pan blanco, el cual es mojado en la comida. Aunque no es un plato muy común en la cultura occidental, la shakshuka es encontrada alrededor de todo el mundo en los restaurantes de comida israelí o sefaradí que sean lácteos. La popularidad de este plato está haciéndose mayor entre los judíos ashkenazim en todo el mundo. Las variaciones de este plato existen, como la shakshuka con pimientos verdes o con otras especias, o incluso sustituyendo los huevos con tofu. Las recetas pueden ser desde ligeramente hasta muy picantes; sin embargo, la receta tradicional israelí de este plato es bastante picante.
