Sleeping with the Past (Soñando con el Pasado) es el vigésimo segundo álbum de estudio del escritor/compositor inglés Elton John, Fue lanzado al mercado en el verano de 1989. Fue el álbum mejor vendido en Dinamarca, y está dedicado a Bernie Taupin. Este álbum se caracteriza por su primer single, "Sacrifice", en su país de origen, Reino Unido. El álbum también alcanzó el #1 en el UK Chart. John y Taupin reflejan el estilo de las canciones de 1960: artistas de R&B como Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, y Sam Cooke, a quienes ellos admiraban. También llegó su primer platino desde 1978 con A Single Man.
