Teodoro R. Yangco

Teodoro Rafael Yangco fue un político, filántropo y empresario filipino.


Biografía

Nacido en San Antonio, Zambales el 9 de noviembre de 1861. Estudió en el Ateneo de Manila donde obtuvo la Licenciatura en Filosofía y Letras.

Más tarde estudió Derecho en la Universidad de Santo Tomás.

Continuó sus estudios en Madrid y Londres, antes de volver a su ciudad, donde trabajó en el negocio de su familia.

En 1907, rompió con su padre y fundó su propia naviera de transbordadores que servían Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Bataan, Zambales, Mindoro y Pampanga.

Entre 1917 y 1920 representó a Filipinas en el Congreso de los Estados Unidos como Comisionado Residente de las Filipinas.

En 1923 representó a la Cámara de Comercio de Filipinas en la primera Conferencia Comercial Pan-Pacífico que tuvo lugar en Honolulu.

Actuó como consul honorario de México en Filipinas.

Murió el 20 de abril de 1939 a la edad de 78 años.
