The Earthling (Mi nuevo campeón) es una película de drama protagonizada por William Holden y Rick Schroder. Fue filmada en 1979 en Australia, y lanzada allí en el año 1980. Peter Collinson dirigió esta película y murió de cáncer poco después de su lanzamiento.

Ésta fue una de las últimas películas de William Holden. Interpreta a Patrick Foley, un profesor desilusionado que va a morir de cáncer y decide volver al lugar donde nació. En el camino conoce a Shawn (Schroder), un huérfano que ha perdido a sus padres en un accidente. Él y el muchacho no se llevan bien al principio, pero después comienzan a entablar una amistad mientras Holden le enseña las habilidades de la supervivencia. Tuvo poca publicidad en los teatros de Estados Unidos.
