Air Boom es un equipo de lucha libre profesional formado por Evan Bourne y Kofi Kingston[3] que trabaja en la empresa WWE, ambos compitiendo en la marca Raw. Actualmente son los Campeones en Pareja de la WWE. El nombre de su equipo "Air Boom" fue votado por los fans en la página web de la WWE.[4] [5] [6]

Historia

2008 - 2010

Kingston & Bourne tuvieron su primer combate en parejas en la segunda lucha disputada por Bourne en ECW el 10 de junio de 2008, contra Shelton Benjamin & Mike Knox, a causa de que en el debut de Bourne (como Matt Sydal), Shelton Benjamin le hizo una powerbomb a Bourne encima de Kingston, el cual se encontraba en la mesa de comentaristas. Bourne y Kingston volverían a juntarse en muy raras ocasiones desde finales del 2009 hasta principios del 2010, enfrentándose a The Legacy en combates por equipo.[7] [8]

2011 - presente

Bourne y Kingston formarían oficialmente un equipo en 2011. En el episodio de Raw del 15 de agosto, Kingston & Bourne derrotaron a los Campeones en Pareja de la WWE David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty en un combate sin el título en juego para convertirse en contendientes número uno por los Cinturones en Pareja.[9] [10] En el episodio de Raw del 22 de agosto, Kingston & Bourne vencieron a Otunga & McGillicutty para ganar su primer Campeonato en Parejas de la WWE en conjunto.[11] [12] En la edición de Raw del 29 de agosto, el dúo fue nombrado oficialmente "Air Boom" y tuvieron éxito en su primer defensa por el título cuando derrotaron a Otunga & McGillicutty en su revancha.[13] [14] [15] El nombre "Air Boom" fue elegido por Evan Bourne y Kofi Kingston en WWE.com después de que pidieron a los seguidores de la WWE en Twitter que presentaran un nombre. De los 11 finalistas, el nombre de "Air Boom" fue elegido, creado mediante la combinación de sus apodos: "Air" de “Air Bourne” y "Boom" de “Boom Squad”.[16]

Defendieron sus títulos exitosamente en Night of Champions frente a The Miz & R-Truth siendo estos últimos descalificados después de que Miz asaltara al árbitro durante el combate.[17] [18] Entrarían en una rivalidad con los clientes de Vickie Guerrero, Dolph Ziggler y Jack Swagger, donde defenderían sus títulos exitosamente frente a Ziggler & Swagger tanto en Hell in a Cell[19] como en Vengeance.[20]

El 1 de noviembre la WWE anunció que Bourne fue suspenido durante 30 días por su primera violación a la política de bienestar de la empresa.[21]
