Chicago Mercantile Exchange

El Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME o simplemente "The Merc") (NYSE: CME) es un mercado financiero estadounidense con base en Chicago. El CME fue fundado en 1898 como el "Chicago Butter and Egg Board".

En marzo de 2008, el Chicago Mercantile Exchange compró el "New York Mercantile Exchange", por USD 8.9 billones en efectivo y acciones. El acuerdo, que requería de la aprobación de al menos un 75% de las 816 acciones en poder de los miembros de la Bolsa Mercantil de Nueva York, solidificará la posición de CME Group, que opera el mercado de Chicago, como la mayor bolsa de derivados del mundo.

CME negocia diversos tipo de instrumentos financieros: tasas de interés, acciones, monedas, así como también productos primarios (commodities).

El 12 de julio de 2007, el CBOT se fusionó con el CME dejando ambos de existir como entidades independientes, y de la fusión nació el "CME Group", actualmente el mayor mercado de futuros y opciones del mundo.
