Harold A. Mooney

Harold A. Mooney (1 de junio de 1932 en Santa Rosa, California) es un ecólogo y profesor de la Stanford University norteamericano. Obtuvo su Ph.D. en la Duke University en 1960 y fue empleado de la University of California-Los Angeles el mismo año. Se une al staff de la Stanford University en 1968. es un experto en plantas y el funcionamiento del ecosistema de los Trópicos al Ártico. es citado como de alto impacto.[1] He has served as chairman of the United States National Research Council Committee on Ecosystem Management for Sustainable Marine Fisheries. Ha sido coordinador de la United Nations Global Biodiversity Assessment (1995) Presidente de Ecological Society of America y es a miembro de National Academy of Sciences y miembro de la American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Tambien ha sido miembro electo extranjero de la Academia de Ciencias de Rusia y miembro honorario de la British Ecological Society.

El 1990 recibe el premio ECI en ecología terrestre. Ha recibido el Max Planck Research Award en ciencias biológicas (1992; junto con Ernst-Detlef Schulze) y la Sociedad ecológica norteamericana le entregó Eminent Ecologist Award de 1996. En 2007, recibe el premio Ramon Margalef de Ecología e ciencias del ambiente.
