Into the Blue (varios títulos para su distribución en castellano, Inmersión letal o Azul extremo) es una película de Estados Unidos, dirigida por John Stockwell en 2005.

Sinopsis

Los huracanes son sinónimo de destrucción para todo el mundo, excepto para los cazadores de tesoros submarinos. Los huracanes revuelven el fondo oceánico y quitan años de arena que durante décadas han cubierto galeones llenos de tesoros.

Jared Cole es un buceador nato, su segundo hogar es el mar y es uno de esos buscadores de tesoros que sueña con hacerse rico. Su hermosa y curvolínea novia Samantha trabaja con tiburones en un centro turístico.

Junto a dos amigos de Jared, también buceadores, disfrutan del mar y en una de sus diversiones descubren una legendaria nave, el Zeraphine que puede contener un tesoro en oro y junto a ella, no muy lejos de allí hay otro misterio más oscuro, un avión bimotor sumergido inrtacto con un cargamento de cocaína en su interior. El pacto de los cuatro de "no decir nada a nadie" pronto se rompe, las lealtades cambian por dinero y lo que empezó siendo una inocente búsqueda de tesoros acaba en una batalla mortal entre ellos mismos, peligrosos traficantes y tiburones.

Comentario

Amante de las olas y el mar, el director de "En el filo de las olas", John Stockwell, se lanzó a rodar "Inmersión letal" en la isla bahameña de New Providence. El rodaje bajo el mar fue uno de los grandes atractivos por los que Stockwell y sus dos protagonistas principales, dos actores jóvenes y de moda, Paul Walker (Pleasantville,y Rapido y Furioso) y Jessica Alba (Los 4 fantásticos, Sin city), aceptaron realizar este film. Ashley Scott (Inteligencia artificial) y Scott Caan (Ocean's Eleven) dan vida a los amigos de Jared.
