La Islas Ocean Reef (tambien conocidas como «Ocean Reef Islands[1] »), es el nombre que recibe un proyecto en construcción[2] de 2 islas artificiales[1] frente a la Costa del Océano Pacífico de Panamá. Se ubican especificamente cerca del sector de Tierras ganadas al mar de Punta Pacífica, en el corregimiento de San Francisco[1] parte de la Provincia de Panamá.

Historia

El proyecto data de 1997[2] pero no se inicio sino hasta su aprobación en el año 2010[2] el presidente panameño Ricardo Martinelli[3] participó en el acto formal de inicio de las obras que se realizo en octubre de ese mismo año.[2]

Islas

  • Isla Este[2] (East Island[1] ) la más grande con 103 mil 251 metros cuadrados (m²) equivalentes a 10,30 hectáreas
  • Isla Oeste[2] (West Island[1] ) que posee 87 mil 52.95 (m²) equivalentes a 8,70 hectáreas.
  • Superficie Total: 19 hectáreas ó 0,19 km²
