John Florio

John Florio, (1553 -1625) fue un lexicógrafo y lingüista inglés famoso por sus traducciones de los Ensayos de Michel de Montaigne al inglés, así como por haber sido maestro en lenguas en la corte de Jacobo I de Inglaterra. Se supone que fue influyente a través de sus escritos en William Shakespeare. Realizó diversos diccionarios de varias lenguas, entre ellas el italiano. Él mismo era de origen italiano, aunque nació en Londres, ya que su padre había sido fraile franciscano en Toscana, antes de su conversión al protestantismo. También es conocido por el nombre de Giovanni Florio por ello.[1]
