La bandoleta[3] (Cypsnagra hirundinacea) es una especie de ave de la familia Thraupidae, monofilética del género Cypsnagra, que se encuentra en Bolivia, Brasil, Paraguay y Surinam.[1]

Hábitat

Vive en sabanas o áreas abiertas con pastizales y árboles bajos,[4] hasta los 1.100 m de altitud.

Descripción

Mide 16 a 16,5 cm de longitud[5] y pesa entre 25 y 34 g.[4] Presenta dorso, cabeza y cola negros, garganta rojiza rufa, alas negras con franjas blancas en las coberteras y primarias, grupa blanca y vientre color crema con flancos amarillos.[5]

Alimentación

Se alimenta principalmente de insectos, especialmente escarabajos y grillos. Forrajea en el suelo y la hierba o atrapa las presas en vuelo. Ocasionalmente come frutas.[4]

Reproducción

Construye el nido a 1 o 2 m de altura del suelo, tejiendo fibras de gramíneas . La hembra pone 3 a 4 huevos de color azulado, con manchas marrones o negras. Ejemplares jóvenes de la nidada anterior ayudan a los padres a cuidar el nido y los polluelos.[4]
