Waze

Waze es una aplicación de navegación GPS gratuita que incorpora características de navegación, desarrollada por Waze Mobile para teléfonos. Actualmente soporta iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, y BlackBerry. En noviembre de 2010 Waze es utilizado por 150.000 usuarios en América Latina y más de 1.5 millones de usuarios a nivel mundial.[1]

Waze difiere del software GPS tradicional en que es una aplicación mantenida por la comunidad de usuarios y que aprende de las rutas recorridas por sus usuarios para proveer información de enrutamiento y actualizaciones de tráfico en tiempo real. Es un producto gratuito para utilizar donde las personas pueden reportar accidentes, congestiones de trafico, controles de velocidad, puntos de interés entre otros.

Licenciamiento

A pesar que el software Waze es distribuido bajo licencia GPL versión 2, esta licencia no cubre los mapas Waze Terms of Use</ref>.
