El Beat the Clock Sprint es un evento anual de la WWE realizado por primera vez el año 2007, formando parte de un evento exclusivo de la marca SmackDown!.

Historia

La primera edición de Friday Night SmackDown del nuevo año, fue la sede del Beat the Clock Sprint. El Gerente General Theodore Long comenzó la noche diciéndole a los aficionados presentes de la WWE que las siguientes luchas serían al azar con el eventual ganador se enfrentaría al campeón peso pesado del mundo, Batista, en Royal Rumble. Como él explicó, el ganador del Beat the Clock Sprint sería la superestrella que ganara su lucha más rápido. Mr. Kennedy se convirtió en el primer ganador de este evento. Rey Mysterio fue el segundo ganador de este torneo el 2008, ganándose el pase para Royal Rumble para enfrentar al campeón peso pesado, Edge, por el título

2007

El torneo consiste en una batalla por participante, es decir, solo tuvieron una oportunidad para implantar un tiempo imbatible. Con un total de 8 luchas el torneo se desarrolló de la siguiente manera:

Por muy injusto que fuese referente a la última lucha, Mr. Kennedy se convirtió en el ganador de este torneo y en el primero en ganar el Beat the Clock Sprint, con un tiempo de 5'07. Kennedy se convirtió en el retador Nº1 para enfrentar al campeón peso pesado, Batista, en Royal Rumble.

2008

Con un total de 5 luchas el torneo se desarrolló así:

  • Primera lucha: Finlay vs MVP. Finlay consigue la victoria en 9'46.
  • Segunda lucha: Chavo Guerrero vs Funaki. Chavo Guerrero consigue la victoria en 6'02.
  • Tercera lucha (Handicap Match): Batista vs Zack Ryder y Curt Hawkins. Batista no consigue batir el tiempo establecido.
  • Cuarta lucha: Undertaker vs Mark Henry. Ninguno consigue batir el tiempo establecido.
  • Quinta lucha: Rey Mysterio vs Edge. Rey Mysterio consigue la victoria en 1'29.

Rey Mysterio establece nuevo record en este torneo. Con esta victoria Rey Mysterio se convirtió en el retador Nº1 en el retador al título peso pesado para Royal Rumble frente al campeón, Edge
