Beschuit met muisjes (pronunciación: “bə'sxœyt mЄt 'mœyςəs”, lit: “rebanada holandesa con ratoncitos”) se trata de un alimento muy tradicional de la cocina holandesa que se suele servir para celebrar el nacimiento de un bebé en Holanda.

Características

Suelen ser rebanadas redondas que se preparan con un pan de forma cilíndrica. Suelen untarse con mantequilla (o margarina) y los muisjes (lit. ‘pequeños ratoncitos’) que son espolvoreados sobre su superfice. Los muisjes son pequeñas bolitas azucaradas y anisadas. Se suelen vender en una mezcla de colores (generalmente dos): blanco y rosa. En 1990 se introdujo una nueva mezcla de blanco y azul. La primera mezcla se emplea hoy en día para celebrar el nacimiento de niñas y la segunda para niños.
