El breakcore es un estilo musical de hardcore electrónico cuya base son los breaks, muy relaccionado con el industrial up-tempo. Se caracteriza por tener una estructura no lineal, al estilo del drum & bass, pero con ritmos aún más variables y frenéticos, bombos potentes y distorsionados (aunque no es condición indispensable) y una profusión de riffs de todo tipo.

Posee subgéneros como el raggacore, una variante más comercial y desenfadada de este estilo.


También existen artistas breakcore influidos por otros estilos, como ciber punk, 8 bit music, hip hop y sobre todo digital harcore.

El Breakcore esta largamente distribuido por la web en formato de mp3s. Existen también corporaciones que producen Vinilos. Artistas reconocidos por su trayectoria en el underground breakcore son: Dev/null, Sickboy, Venetian Snares, HEadshot, Stazma, Hecate, Maladroit, Maruosa, 4|\/|4R, Shitmat, Randomatik Blast, entre otros.

Es un genero en constante movimiento y conciertos muy pequeños se realizan principalmente ahora en Sud America especialmente en la ciudad de Cochabamba donde hay un auge de productores nuevos.
