Carpocrates de Alexandría era el fundador de una secta gnóstica temprana de la primera mitad del siglo II.

Como en muchos sectas gnósticos sabemos de los Carpocratianos, solamente basandonos en las escrituras de los padres de iglesia, en el caso de Carpócrates, principalmente de Ireneo de Lyon y de Clemente de Alejandría. Pues estos escritores se opusieron fuertemente a la doctrina gnóstica hay un considerable negatividad al usar estas fuentes. Sin embargo, mientras que las varias referencias a los Carpocratianos diferencian en algunos detalles, hay unanimidad en cuanto a el libertinismo de la secta.

Filósofo y teólogo del siglo II. Uno de los alejandrinos, sus opiniones son una mezcla de cristianismo y platonismo. Sostenía que el mundo era una creación de ángeles caídos privados de su pureza originaria. Por ello, esta creación es mala, y sólo podía el hombre liberarse de ella profesando la gnosis o ciencia de lo divino.
