Dion Boucicault

Dion Boucicault, de nacimiento Dionysius Lardner Boursiquot (26 de diciembre, 1820, Dublín - 18 de septiembre, 1890, Nueva York) fue un dramaturgo estadounidense de origen irlandés.

Comenzó con la actuación en 1837 y escribió las exitosas comedias London Assurance en 1841 y The Corsican Brothers en 1852. En 1853 se trasladó a la ciudad de Nueva York, donde contribuyó positivamente en obtener la primera ley de derechos de autor en favor de las obras dramáticas de los Estados Unidos.

Preocupado por asuntos sociales, escribió una discreta crítica sobre la esclavitud en The Octoroon de 1859. También creó una serie de obras teatrales irlandesas populares como The Colleen Bawn en 1860 y The Shaughraun en 1874.
