Eric Gairy

Sir Eric Matthew Gairy (1922-1997) Político de Granada. Maestro de escuela y líder del Partido Laborista Unido de Granada. Ministro principal de la colonia (1958-1963), perdió la elecciones de 1963. Ganó las de 1967 y fue nombrado primer ministro. Se mantuvo en el poder después de la independencia de la isla (febrero de 1974) y tras las elecciones de diciembre de 1976, que ganó su partido. Derrocado por un golpe de Estado (1979), tras la ocupación estadounidense fue vencido por H. Blaize en las elecciones de 1984.
