Fiddle

El término Fiddle, hace referencia a cualquier instrumento musical de cuerda que se hace sonar con arco, lo que incluye al violín. Se trata de un término coloquial para aquellos instrumentos utilizados por músicos en muchos géneros, desde el country a la música clásica.

El uso más generalizado es el de violín. Así como violín hace referencia a un instrumento específico, fiddle puede utilizarse para referirse a un violín o cualquier instrumento similar como el Hardanger fiddle, la lira bizantina, el erhu chino, el crwth galés, el Tzii'edo' a 'tl apache, el dúo violín-violonchelo escocés (wee fiddle y big fiddle), el contrabajo (bull fiddle o bass fiddle), etc.
