La garcilla peinada o garza capirotada (Pilherodius pileatus) es una especie de ave pelecaniforme de la familia Ardeidae[1] [2] que habita las selvas sudamericanas desde Venezuela hasta el noreste argentino.

Características

Posee un tamaño similar al de la garza enana. Los adultos miden unos 60 cm. Sus mejillas y pico son de color azul vivo, y su cabeza queda adornada por dos largas plumas que cuelgan sobre su espalda. Vuela poco y pesca al acecho pececillos.

Una curiosidad de esta especie es que sus crías poseen el mismo plumaje que sus padres, algo único entre los ardeidos.
