Gonguembo

Gonguembo es una comuna y también un municipio (Concelho de Ngonguembo) de la provincia de Cuanza Norte, en el interior de Angola al Este de Luanda.[1]

Geografía

El término tiene una extensión superficial de 1 400 km² y una población de 37,405 habitantes.[2]

Linda al norte los municipios de Bula Atumba e Banga; al este con el de Lucala; al sur con el de Golungo Alto; y al oeste con el de Pango Aluquém.

Este municipio agrupa dos comunas:

  • Camame
  • Cavunga

Historia

En tiempos de la colonización portuguesa, la localidad era conocida como Quilombo dos Dembos.
