Heritage Foundation

La Fundación Heritage o por su nombre en inglés Heritage Foundation es un centro de investigación política (think tank) de corte conservador estadounidense.[1] [2] Fundado en 1973, su centro de operaciones está ubicada en Washington, D.C., Estados Unidos.

Según su declaración de principios, el objetivo de la Fundación Heritage es "formular y promover las políticas públicas conservadoras basadas en el principio de la libertad de empresa, el gobierno limitado, la libertad individual, los valores estadounidenses tradicionales, y una poderosa defensa nacional."[1]

El financiamiento inicial de la fundación fue aportado por el político conservador Joseph Coors, co propietario de Coors Brewing Company.[3] El financiamiento de Coors fue posteriormente incrementado por la ayuda financiera del billonario Richard Mellon Scaife. El activista conservador Paul Weyrich fue su primer director. Desde 1977, el presidente de Heritage ha sido Edwin Feulner, Jr., quien fue anteriormente el director ejecutivo del Comité de Estudios Republicanos de la Cámara de Representantes y que también se desempeñó como asistente del Congresista de EE.UU. Phil Crane.

Hasta 2001, la Fundación Heritage publicó la Policy Review, un periódico de políticas públicas, que entonces fue adquirido por el Hoover Institution. Desde 1995 hasta 2005, la Fundación Heritage dirigió la web Townhall.com, un sitio conservador de internet.[4]

Desde diciembre de 2010, la Fundación Heritage tiene una web oficial en español llamada Heritage Libertad o simplemente Libertad.org [1]que según su página web "representa la próxima fase de la innovadora estrategia de comunicación de la Fundación Heritage para dar a conocer nuestros estudios e informes a cada vez más americanos y gente del mundo hispano".[5]
