Significado
La canción trata de un hombre que fue asesinado pero revivió, y ahora está buscando venganza. Sin embargo él se vuelve más paranoico sobre ser asesinado otra vez. Él dice que alguien se está ocultando de él, y en el extremo lo encontró y posiblemente lo ha matado. Él se preocupa por el pasado, lo que lleva a enfermarlo mentalmente y recurre al suicidio.
Curiosidades
- La canción se conoce de dos formas: “It's not a fashion statement, it's a deathwish” e “It's not a fashion statement, it's a fucking deathwish”; la segunda es la más conocida, ya que así es como se le llama en el disco y en la papeleta de las letras de canciones.
- La línea “you get what everyone else gets: you get a lifetime” puede ser una acotación del cómic The Sandman escrito por Neil Gaiman en el que dice: “You lived what anybody gets, Bernie. You got a lifetime. No more. No less”.
- Hay una fuerte similitud entre esta canción y la canción “Miedo a las alturas” del grupo Panda,[1] por lo que la banda mexicana ha sido acusado de plagio.
