Kohath

Kohath era hijo del patriarca Leví, uno de los hijos de Jacob, y de su esposa Melcha. El libro del Éxodo dice que Kohath vivió 133 años y tuvo cuatro hijos: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uzziel. El Testamento de Leví dice además que Leví lo engendró a los 35 años y que tuvo una visión magnánima acerca de su hijo pocos días antes de su nacimiento. Más adelante, el Libro de los Números menciona a los kohathitas, quienes acampaban al sur del Tabernáculo.
