pwd

El comando pwd (de las siglas en inglés print working directory, cuya traducción sería imprimir directorio de trabajo) se utiliza para imprimir el nombre del directorio actual en una sesión de comandos bajo un sistema operativo Unix o derivado.

Si el inductor del intérprete de comandos de Unix no lo está mostrando ya, el usuario puede invocar este comando para averiguar cuál es su ubicación en el árbol de directorios del sistema de ficheros. Este comando pertenece a la familia de comandos estándar del sistema operativo Unix original, así como sus respectivas variantes. El comando equivalente en el sistema operativo DOS es "CD" cuando se invoca sin argumentos, y el equivalente en OpenVMS es "show default".

En ciertos intérpretes de comandos de Unix (tales como el intérprete de Bourne -sh- y el intérprete mejorado de Bourne -bash-) se implementa como comando interno (incluido en las funciones del propio intérprete). Puede programarse fácilmente en lenguaje C gracias a las funciones POSIX getcwd() y getwd().

Ejemplo

Para mostrar el directorio de trabajo actual:

$ pwd
/home/usuario
