Queer horror

Queer Horror (en español terror gay) es un término que hace referencia a aquellas obras de la literatura o el cine en las que, dentro del género terrorífico, alguno de los personajes es homosexual, se aprecia una temática relacionada con la homosexualidad, o bien es de especial interés para el colectivo de gays y lesbianas por algún motivo concreto.

Aunque nace en los tiempos de la literatura gótica, en novelas como Carmilla, de Sheridan Le Fanu, ha sido en el cine donde se ha asentado como subgénero. Así films como La novia de Frankenstein (1935) de James Whale o La hija de Drácula (1936) de Lambert Hillyer, son algunos de sus primeros títulos importantes, mostrando comportamientos y problemáticas homosexuales de forma metafórica, evadiendo así el estricto Código Hays que limitaba la aparición de homosexuales en la gran pantalla.[1]

Hoy en día ya es un subgénero propiamente dicho, en el que todos los protagonistas son gays, y la película se orienta hacia el público homosexual.
