Ruth Prawer Jhabvala

Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Ruth Prawer Jhabala o simplemente Ruth Prawer (7 de mayo de 1927, Colonia, Alemania - ) es una novelista y guionista cinematográfica estadounidense de origen alemán.

Nacida dentro de una familia de judíos polacos, emigró a Inglaterra junto a sus parientes en 1939. Se casó con un arquitecto indio y se mudó a la India, donde residió hasta 1975, para posteriormente vivir en Nueva York.

Muchas de sus novelas como Heat and Dust de 1975 y ganadora de un premio Booker, están ambientadas en la India. Escribió guiones únicos para películas como Shakespeare Wallah de 1965 y adaptaciones cinematográficas de novelas como The Bostonians de 1984, A Room with a View de 1985, Howards End de 1992, The Remains of the Day de 1993 y The Golden Bowl del 2000.
