Second Study Group

Second Study Group (SSG, Segundo Grupo de Estudio), un nuevo grupo de criptoanalistas y expertos en distintas disciplinas que, organizados de nuevo por William F. Friedman, trabajaron (siempre procurando una publicidad mínima) en el estudio del Manuscrito Voynich en el período septiembre de 1962-verano de 1963 con el patronicio de la "Radio Corporation of America" (RCA) y uno de sus ordenadores, modelo RCA 301.

Para ello idearon un alfabeto de transliteración formado por 33 letras y 3 caracteres especiales ('espacio', 'final de línea' y 'carácter desconocido') con los cuales tenían proyectado transliterar por completo el manuscrito; al acabarse el patrocinio de la compañía el grupo se disolvió sin haber llegado a publicar sus valiosos estudios, transcripciones y resultados.

Llegó a transcribir el manuscrito desde el folio 67 recto al 87 recto, aunque ciertos folios (67 recto 2, 85 y 86 vuelto 3) lo fueron dos veces, quizá como "control" para comprobar la precisión del método de transcripción utilizado.

Utilizando su alfabeto (se inserta a continuación la transcripción del encabezamiento del folio 67 recto, 1, formado por cuatro líneas) podemos comparar un mismo texto transcrito con su alfabeto y con el convenio "European Voynich Alphabet" (EVA).
