Tandem Computers

Computadores Tandem fueron unos de los primeros computadores fabricados que se basaban en el concepto de tolerancia de fallos (inglés:fault-tolerant computer systems); inicialmente se comercializaron como sistemas transaccionales principalmente para los clientes que manejan este tipo de sistemas en el sector financiero. La arquitectura que emplean se conoce como NonStop, que consiste en usar un número redundante de procesadores, dispositivos de almacenamiento que proveen una respuesta rápida en caso de una falla inclusive cuando falla el hardware.

Estos sistemas siguen vigentes en la actualidad, la empresa que los fabricó en un principio fue Tandem Imalaya, esta fue comprada por Compaq en 1997, en la actualidad Hewlett-Packard ofrece el producto como línea de alto rendimiento en servidores.
